Xylem

Distinct rings, ring porous, vessels solitary and in groups, simple perforations, intervessel pits round, fibers thin to thick-walled, paratracheal and marginal parenchyma, ray width >10 cells, homocellular with procumbent cells. Storied parenchyma and fibers and vessels, with few prismatic crystals in rays.

Phloem

Sieve cells between parenchyma cells. They are compressed in older rings. Half-moon-like groups of sclerenchyma, arranged in tangential direction in the phloem. Rays sclerotisised with annual? gaps. Crystals absent. Phellogen gets active after two years.
