No secondary growth, single vascular bundles around the pith, rings absent, vessels solitary and in small groups, vessel diameter 15-25mµ, vessels thick-walled (2-3mµ), fibers absent, simple perforations, big bordered, round intervascular pits, pervasive parenchyma, vascular bundles rayless, very large rays (extrusions from the pith) between the bundles.

Phloem

Uniform anatomy without sieve elements. Sieve cells and parenchyma can not be distinguished. Some spots of sclerenchyma in the cortex.
