cohort

  • A group of trees regenerating and establishing after a single disturbance whether major (stand replacement) or minor (gap). The age range within a cohort may vary from one year to several decades, depending on how long trees continue invading until the growing space is occupied and additional trees are excluded. (Oliver 1981)
