DACA-13 – Air, Ice & Process Interactions

“Air, Ice & Process Interactions” – this is the overarching theme of the Davos Atmosphere and Cryosphere Assembly DACA-13, which will be held in Davos from 8 – 12 July 2013. DACA-13, a WSL and SLF event, is jointly organized by the IUGG associations IACS and IAMAS, and a Swiss national organizing committee with representatives from WMO, MeteoSwiss, SCNAT, PMO Davos, SLF Davos, PSI, ETH Zurich and University of Bern. Davos Congress and Destination Davos Klosters will support the organization of DACA-13.
To face today’s key challenges of global environmental change it is essential to cooperate at the interface between atmospheric and cryospheric sciences, and to pay attention to the complex interactions between these two vulnerable components. Therefore, DACA-13 will devote particular attention to the interaction between the components, in parallel to a range of more discipline-oriented sessions covering the broad spectrum of atmospheric and cryospheric sciences. The conference will feature a structured program, thus avoiding overlapping sessions as much as possible, which will contribute to the spirit of a small, well-organized meeting. Central elements will be keynote presentations by world-leading experts and extended poster sessions. In addition, a range of scientific excursions and trips into the fascinating alpine environment will be offered.

Program

Please find a list of the 21 symposia here. Most symposia consist of several sessions. The session titles, detailed content and conveners are described in the program.

Location

DACA-13 will be held in the Swiss mountain resort of Davos, which can be reached by train from Zurich Airport in about 2.5 hours. Davos, Europe's highest city, is situated in the Eastern part of the Swiss Alps on 1560 meters above sea level. It offers a very advanced congress infrastructure and a wide range of accommodation from the simple hostel to elegant five-star lodgings. While being at the pulse of international business and research, Davos has kept a pleasant village atmosphere. The stunning alpine environment renders every visit exceptionally enjoyable.
