The Research Unit Biodiversity and Conservation Biology is engaged in teaching at several Swiss universities and schools of higher education. Ökologische Ausgleichsflächen im Ackerbau – Rettung für die bedrohten Ackermoose?
Nur wenige denken wohl an Äcker, wenn sie sich ein moosreiches Habitat
vorstellen, sondern viel eher an schattige Wälder oder an den
vermoosten Zierrasen. Tatsache ist, dass auf Äckern eine
charakteristische, hochspezialisierte und vielfältige Moosflora
vorkommen kann. In dieser Masterarbeit soll nun erstmals detailliert
untersucht werden, wie geeignet die ökologischen Ausgleichsflächen im
Ackerbau zur Erhaltung und Förderung dieser Moosflora sind.

Semesterstudent/in. Die Arbeit kann, je nach Interesse der Studenten,
relativ flexibel gestaltet werden.Unter anderem könnten neue
Mikrosatelliten Marker (short sequence repeats,SSRs) mittels der 454
next generation sequencing Methode entwickelt werden, mit welchen dann
die genetische Struktur der in der Schweiz weit verbreiteten
Phytophthora Art P. gonapodyides Populationen bestimmt werden könnte.

Variability of echolocation call design of Eptesicus serotinus and Eptesicus nilssonii in northern and southern Switzerland

The study tries to elucidate the extent of overlap and differentiation of the echolocation calls ('dialects') of the two bat species Eptesicus serotinus (Breitflügelfledermaus) and Eptesicus nilssonii (Nordfledermaus) north and south of the Alps.
