Dendro sciences at the WSL are recognized worldwide as having a long tradition as an innovative center for the development, improvement and application of tree-ring techniques in the environmental sciences.

Our group of scientists mainly focus on advancing the frontiers of tree-ring applications through innovative research, development of methods and tools, and teaching activities. Research is centered on understanding and reconstructing the interactions between the earth's changing environments and tree-ring growth. Study sites span Europe, Asia, North America, and Africa with expertise in global climate change studies, ecosystem and geomorphic processes, and the physiology of ring formation.

The Dendro Sciences WSL is a platform that assembles all tree-ring related activities of the WSL. The platform comprises scientists, technicians, students and guests, and represents a wide range of expertise in many fields of dendrochronology.
