The XylemDB provides an anatomical description and classification of the xylem and phloem of herbs, shrubs and trees. Anatomical pictures of about 600 species are presented.

This database of dendrochonologically relevant plant species was compiled by Henri D. Grissino-Mayer. It currently contains the names of over 1,100 tree and shrub species for which tree rings have been analyzed in the published literature.

This web-based identification key is useful to identify wood species with online high resolution cross- and length sections from trunks and twigs. It is valuable for showing both the variability of wood as well as documenting what many find an unpleasant fact, namely that many tree species share similar wood anatomy.
