Das Produkt hat sich im Laufe der Zeit gewandelt. Aus der früheren, gedruckten Version ist heute eine attraktive Webpublikation geworden, die auch als pdf-Dokument zum Download verfügbar ist. Unverändert geblieben ist der hohe Informationsgehalt.

Investigating the spatial and temporal variability of the alpine snowpace is vital for the assessment of avalanche danger as well as the calculation of hydrological resources in an alpine watershed. This variability of the snowpack is governed by snow drift through wind and by the localised energy balance of the snow surface. SLF use the Wannengrat fieldsite to measure these drift parameters and then use them to develop and verify the numerical drift model in the ALPINE3D surface process model

The developed software FARO enables a more efficient development or optimization of new types due to a reduced number of expensive prototype field tests. In addition, the use of software provides the possibility to simulate projected barriers considering special load cases, which cannot be reproduced in field tests, as well as special geometrical boundary conditions for individual sceneries.
