Research interests

My research interests focus on the relation between people and their (changing) environment in rural as well as in urban regions. I would like to find out, which environmental qualities are needed for people's well-being (identity, restoration, integration), how people can be encouraged to stick up for their needs (commitment, public participation) and what is the effect of peoples involvement in the development of their environment on the people-environment-relation (need satisfaction, social capital, leisure mobility).

Current research projects

My latest own projects are:

  • Conflicting Expectations and Objectives regarding the Development of Alpine Landscapes (within the National Research Program 48 'Landscapes and habitats in the Alps')  >>>
  • Requirements for the local life quality and the potential of consensus building for a sustainable development of space and mobility (within the WSL Research program 'Land Resources Management in Peri-Urban Environments'>>>
  • Participatory Landscape Development: Elaborating a guideline for a living landscape
