Madeleine S. Goerg-Günthardt

Education:
University of Zürich (biology, organic chemistry, statistics: PhD 1975) and Academy of Music Zürich (master in teaching, flutist 1970).
1967 -1982 active in both professions.
During this time music became more and more of a hobby, taking a backseat.

1984 research scientist at WSL, 1994-2006 head of research group Bioindications. Since 1999 member of the editorial board of the scientific WSL jounal ‚FoSnoLa, Forest, Snow and Landscape Research ‘ and head of the project framework ‘From Cell to Tree’. Since 2001 'Ozone Validation Centre', 2001-2006 teacher ETHZ, 2002 – 2008 IUFRO chair of the unit 7.01.02 ‚Mechanisms of Action and Indicator Development ‘. 2006 awarded title ‚Senior Scientist‘, 2006- 2007 head of the research group ‘Climate Change and Forests, 2006-2012 head of the framework ‘Querco’. Since 2009 project ‚Poplar, Guinea Pig’.

Professional interests:
Biotic, anthropogeneous and climatic influences induce macroscopical, microscopical and chemical changes and symptoms in plants (particularly trees). I would like to 'read' these symptoms for a sound interpretation of the nature, duration and force of the influencing factors in cells, tissues, organs, and trees.

Keywords describing my work so far:
Cross-breeding, plant hormones, plant sucking insects, plant waxes, immissions (SO2, O3, NO2), spider mites, fungus infections, nutrition, UV-B, CO2, different soil types, model ecosystems, lipids, phenols, acid rain, heavy metals, drought, heat.
