Dr. Jörg Luster - Personal Homepage
Research InterestsI am interested in how the living system "soil" in near-natural ecosystems deals with strains imposed by acidity, nitrogen or heavy metals. Furthermore, I want to know more about how plant-soil-microbe interactions in the root zone influence biogeochemical cycles on a macro scale. An improved understanding of these processes may allow a better evaluation of the the function of soils to act as filter for water resources and how this filter function may develop in future under the prospects of predicted climatic changes. For details on processes at the root-soil interface see research focus "Rhizosphere". Gehring) I am interested in structure, weathering and thermal behaviour of soil minerals. We investigate untreated and chemically and / or thermally treated samples with rock magnetic, spectroscopic and microscopic methods as well as with X-ray diffractometry. |
