I'm interested in molecular biology and ecology of plant pathogenic fungi and insects. My research experience includes fungal ecology, systematic, population genetics/genomics of wooden pathogens and pests. I would like to study genome-wide associations in plant-pathosystem and would be happy to join studies looking for genes responsible for a plant tolerance/resistance.
The importance of those studies increases rapidly. Due to climatic changes and substantial intensification of the globalization processes (like global trades and worldwide human mobility), plants in ecosystems are under the pressure of adaptation to new climatic conditions, and besides that, under potential threat of alien pests&pathogens invasion. Although, new high-throughput genomic technologies allow in a reasonable timing get ready to those new challenges. I believe the research have developed from both sides of a plant-pathosystem. In order to predict new invasions and control current outbreaks, the genomic variations of pests&pathogens associated with specific abiotic factors as well as genes responsible for adherence to infest multiple hosts can be defined. Likelihood, genomes of plants also crypt the immense potential for pathoresistant and eventually introducing or/and maintaining particular genotypes can facilitate general ecosystem resistance.
I am focused but not limited by phytopathology issues. An interesting project in molecular ecology of any biosystem inevitably will motivate me for a fruitful collaboration.
Currently, I’m finishing the project on invasion genetics of the Asian longhorned beetle Anoplophora glabripennis (ALB) in Switzerland and looking for an research-associated position.
