PhD-Project (working title)
Conflicting landscape services - new approaches to the mapping of landscape services and to a spatially explicit modeling of land-use conflict potential.
General Assumption
Conflicting landscape services are the locational driving factors of land use conflicts.
Purpose
The objective of this study is to create a methodological framework to detect hot-spots of conflicting landscape services before they erupt into land use conflicts.
Expected Results
The expected results provide new methods and tools for practitioners and scientists working in the field of landscape planning. More precisely, the study is expected to deliver: new methods for spatially explicit mapping of landscape services and new analytical tools for modelling conflict potential maps at the local and regional scale.
Methods
To achieve these results a combination of empirical fieldwork is employed together with exploratory multivariate statistical analysis and GIS modelling techniques.
