Main professional interests and activities

  • Forest ecology:

Analysis of long-term information archived by trees, particularly tree growth, vitality and mortality from sub-hourly to millennial time scales. Development of statistical models and routines to analyse data from tree rings, forest inventories and field experiments.

  • Tomography:

Screening of trees for internal heart rot decay, assessments of tree stability.

  • Statistics & Programming:

Teaching at ETH Zurich & University of Zurich. Statistical consultancy for several research groups in Switzerland and abroad.

  • Wunder Consulting:

Foundation of an independent consultancy complementary to my part-time position at ETH/WSL. Focus on applied sciences and knowledge transfer.
