My research is centered on the ecological dimensions of latest developments in remote sensing. I am particularly interested in the spatial and temporal dynamics of forest biodiversity and how species distributions and habitat use are affected by 3-D habitat structure. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is my preferred tool as it provides contiguous and highly detailed information about three-dimensionally complex habitats. I have worked on a broad range of taxa in temperate forests and I am using LiDAR for conservation related issues such as the modelling and monitoring of bird habitat suitability. Recently, I have developed a growing interest in the links between forest structure and composition, microclimate and the associated dynamics in biodiversity.
