SNF project: Field measurements of sediment-flux-driven bedload erosion
Bedload erosion

In this project the effect of erosion by bedload transport is investigated in mountain streams.

Foen-Project: Roughness of Alpine Mountain Streams

Im Projekt werden Methoden weiterentwickelt, mit denen anhand von Feldmessungen eine Abschätzung der Transportkapazität von Wildbächen und damit verlässlichere Gefahrenbeurteilungen möglich sind.

SNF project: Sediment transport in steep streams
Sediment transport in steep streams

Accurate prediction of bedload transport is important for hazard assessment and in engineering applications. The main purpose of this proposed research project is to advance the understanding of bedload transport processes through detailed field observations.

Organic carbon transfer in mountain catchments
Organic carbon transfer

In the global carbon budget, carbon can be drawn down from the atmosphere by silicate weathering and by the burial of organic carbon in anoxic environments such as the deep sea. In this project we study how organic carbon is transferred to, and transported in mountain streams.

Nitrogen dynamics Alptal
N dynamics Alptal

This framework project contains research done on the site Erlenhöhe at Alptal (canton Schwyz, central Switzerland). It consists mainly of a nitrogen (N) addition experiment in which the effetcs of N deposition on a subalpine forest ecosystem are studied.
