9 September - Historical city of Murten

During the afternoon of Tuesday, 9 September we will be welcome by the governor of the city of Murten. Afterwards you may take a stroll through the historical city of Murten, go shopping, or participate in a guided tour learning more about the history of the 837 year old city. In the evening, we will meet for a conference dinner at the border of the lake.

11 September - Pfyn Forest, Valais Nature Park

The one-day excursion will be guided by Dr. Matthias Dobbertin who will lead us into the Pfyn Forest, Valais Nature Park where various research activities on the impact of climate change on the mountain forests are conducted.

Nearby, we will visit the forests above Leuk which have been destroyed by fire in August 2003.

11 September - Jungfraujoch, Top of Europe

If you wish to go 3450 meters above sea level, you may be interested in the one-day excursion to the Jungfraujoch on top of Europe. By bus we will leave from Murten, drive through the central plateau of Switzerland and catch the Jungfrau Railways through the UNESCO World Heritage of the Swiss Alps to the highest train station of Europe.
