Automated acoustic bat species recognition by a synergetic computer
Publication in
still in press, but a poster presented at the Biosonar Conference in Portugal 1998 is web-available
Experimental approach
For this first trial, 6 calls per species were used as training base for the synergetic algorithm. 6 different calls per species should then be classified to the proper species.
First results
The results of a pilot test mit spectrographic display of the signal charactersitics are shown. Deeper results in the afforementioned Poster !

Potential applications
Biodiversity monitoring of acoustically conspicous species (incl. insects, etc.)
Behavioural separation of species
This project is terminated, leading in a new project: "Assessing the distribution and habitat requirements of bat species assemblages by means of bioacoustic, synergetic pattern recognition"
