Teaching
is important for us in order to acquire motivated and skilled students, particularly for externally funded research projects (SNF, NFP, BUWAL). After graduation (list of theses in German, team fauna only!), former students often cooperate as external experts.
Several research groups of the biodiversity section are strongly involved in teaching:
ETH Zürich
- Abt. UNW: practica in invertebrate faunistics (Peter Duelli)
- Abt. Forstwissenschaften: "Tierökologie" (W. Suter)
University of Basel
- Regular lectures in insect ecology, insect physiology; insect excursions (Peter Duelli)
- Undergraduate practica I and II on faunistics - ecological methods (Peter Duelli)
University of Bern
- Regular lectures in mycology and lichenology with excursions (B. Senn-Irlet & Ch. Scheidegger)
Consulting
is performed at various levels:
- faunistic aspects in projects of other in-house research groups.
- participation in expert groups at a federal level, for private organisations or for cantons.
- reviews for journals, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) research council, foreign national foundations.
- Seminars
