Installing Your MULVA-5 Version
- Put the compressed file into an empty folder and decompress it. Files used and generated by MULVA can be processed using any text editor.
Trying out an Example
- To explore MULVA, you best start by typing 11 (OPEN). When MULVA requests a file name, type "nzzm5". This is a sample file contained in the package. Continue the OPEN procedure until the main menu reappears. You can then try any other menu option.
Importing Data
- Organize your data in any spread-sheet program (e.g. EXCEL) as indicated in the instructions manual (Wildi & Orlóci 1996, see below). Save it in text format using tabs as separators. Import the data into MULVA using menu option 12 (IMPORT). This will generate a MULVA-5 file that can be opened (menu option 11).
Using Applications
- Enter menu option 13 (APPLIC) and there select submenu option 3 which returns a list of applications contained in the package. You can run any of these selecting submenu option 1. The applications also illustrate how MULVA can be used to solve more complex problems.
Exporting Results and Data
- Many of the results and derived data sets produced by the MULVA-5 programs can be exported using menu option 25 (EXPORT). Most of the programs generate text files with tabs as separators. Such files can readily be further processed by many other statistical programs.
