  Roles ↓

Data Authorship Contributor Roles Taxonomy (DataCRediT) was designed to improve authorship transparency for research data by defining a system of attribution, credit, responsibility and accountability for datasets published in EnviDat. Proudly inspired by CASRAI's CRediT.

DataCRediT/Collection

Involvement in gathering and measuring information on targeted variables for a research dataset.

DataCRediT/Validation

Verification and cleaning of the dataset, whether as a part of the collection activity or separate.

DataCRediT/Curation

Involvement in annotating (producing metadata) and maintaining research data for use and re-use.

DataCRediT/Software

Implementation of the computer code and algorithms that assisted in the collection, validation, curation or publication of the dataset.

DataCRediT/Publication

Responsibility and involvement in activities related to the publication of the research dataset in a science data repository.

DataCRediT/Supervision

Oversight and leadership responsibility for achieving goals related to the collection, validation, curation or publication of the dataset.
