Research interests

Ecohydrology, nonlinear interactions, dynamical systems theory, Bayesian parameter inference, stable isotope hydrology.

The overarching topic of my research project deals with the impacts of climate extreme conditions, especially drought, on Swiss forest health.

I apply a data and model based approach to understand soil water processes in the unsaturated zone and predict actual soil water availability and related plant water stress for various geographical locations and soil types in Switzerland. I try to combine methodological approaches from different disciplines. I highly appreciate model parsimony, resulting in models that are often more easily constrained by available data yet sufficient to answer many research questions.
