Holder for increment corers

The new GSC-holder was designed using 3D-modeling software and printed with a 3D printer. Now we offer this holder manufactured using injection molding. The GSC-holder allows for straightforward handling of the cores taken in the field without repacking or relabeling them.

Additionally, we developed a pusher allowing to get the cores out of the holder if needed for further isotope or chemical analyses.

(A) The opening at both ends of the holder allows connecting two holders with a little pole to fix longer cores. The green arrows indicate the pressure direction when the holder is fixed in the core microtome. Left: White arrows indicate openings that allow air or liquid (for embedding) circulation. Right: The GSC-holder with a core pressed in. (B) The fiber direction of the core needs to be upright. (C) The white line indicates the cutting surface of the core.
