mass spectrometer

  • Device in which the magnetic separation of an ionic beam is used to separate and count ions of different masses (isotopes). The ratios of the isotopes of the various elements are then calculated, for example in carbon (13C/12C), in oxygen (18O/16O) and in hydrogen (2H/1H).
