Hill zone to subalpine
Distinct rings, semi-ring porous, early-wood vessels in radial multiples in tangential bands, small latewood vessels solitary, vestured pits, tangential bands with thick walled fibers, paratracheal parenchyma, ray width 2-4 cells and often with sheet cells.
Indistinct tangential layers of collapsed sieve cells and little groups of sclereids, radial rows of parenchyma cells, distinct ray dilatations..
