Xylem

Distinct rings (polarized light), diffuse porous, vessels in long radial rows, simple perforation, gash-like and scalariform vessel pitting, vessel diameter in earlywood 30µm, fiber pits minutely bordered, fibers very thick-walled, apotracheal and paratracheal parenchyma, most parenchyma cells with nuclei, ray width 1-8, all ray cells upright, often confluent to axial parenchyma, thick-walled ray cells, crystals prismatic and in druses.

Phloem

With sieve cell groups above the vessel/fiber strips. Old sieve cells not collapsed, groups of sclereids in cortex. Prismatic crystals and crystal cruses present.
