Xylem

(Description of a twig). Conifer like wood but with large rays. Distinct ring boundaries, vessels absent, tracheids with big round and scalariform bordered pits (4-5 µm), arranged predominantly uniseriate (1 to 3 seriate). Axial parenchyma rare or absent. Rays are uniseriate and multiseriate (2 to 4 cells in width), heterocellular with 1 to 3 square and upright marginal cells. With sheet cells. Pits in marginal ray cells mostly arranged in axial rows. Ray-pits piceoid (bordered with slit-like apertures). Oil cells in the pith.
