I am dedicated to understand the patterns of species’ ranges, and their dynamics, as well as, provide methodological progress that brings more realism into models and predictions of species’ range dynamics through time.

The goal of my research is to find answers to fundamental questions in macro- and vegetation ecology, but also to inform nature conservation about the impact of global change on biodiversity.

My research, thus has two main components:

  • empirical studies conducted to gain insight on the factors and processes determining macroecological patterns
  • methodological, conceptual and technical progress (e.g. drones) leading to improved assessment, understanding and predictions of range dynamics under global change.
