Forest Health Achievement Award goes to Ecki Brockerhoff

Ecki Brockerhoff, Head of the Forest Health and Biotic Interactions Research Unit of the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL, received the "Forest Health Achievement Award" at the IUFRO Forest Health Conference in Lisbon in September 2022.

This award was given to him in recognition of his work in IUFRO Division 7 (Forest Health) of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). Specifically, it recognises his contribution to global forest health as head of Division 7 from 2011 to 2021 and subsequently in 2022. During this time, he has promoted international collaboration by organising numerous conferences, meetings and special issues of journals focusing on forest health and has supported the equal participation of all scientists regardless of age, gender or geographical location.

In addition to his leadership within IUFRO, this award also recognises his leadership in the forest health scientific community. His publications on invasive species and the links to international trade, as well as the risks to plantation forests in particular, have provided data and insights necessary for the development of effective forest biosecurity practices. Congratulations!
