In the eventful history of the land use of the Russian steppe, a new chapter has been opened: after massive agricultural abandonment, today the pressures on intensifying agriculture in the Russian steppe landscapes increase.
How can we promote the agricultural production under climate change scenarios while at the same time preserving the ecological services (habitats, carbon storage) of the Russian steppe?
