Governance of regional development

Attributes and functionality using the examples of Regional Nature Parks and the New Regional Policy in Switzerland

During the last few years, several new approaches of regional development have emerged in Switzerland, all featuring typical governance attributes. They are characterized by overlapping existing political-administrative units and cross-border cooperation between authorities. Also, they show an increasing involvement of non-governmental stakeholders as well as a low level of institutionalization.
