Greenland-Switzerland Avalanche Collaboration (Konrad Steffen Grant)

The present project aims to support GreenAVS by establishing a collaboration between SLF and current avalanche management stakeholders in Greenland. This collaboration will share expertise to tackle the avalanche management challenges that Greenland faces. We aim to achieve this through a series of visits by SLF staff to Greenland and vice versa by Greenlandic staff to Davos. These visits will help all partners develop a better understanding of the respective environmental conditions, challenges and solutions. Mapping in pilot regions and running the SNOWPACK model are also envisaged. These exchanges will provide the basis for identifying further research needs and best practices for addressing Greenland's avalanche mitigation challenges. In addition, we hope to lay the foundation for a strong cooperation between the two nations in the field of avalanche management.
