The perception of natural hazards and specifically the storm "Lothar" by the Swiss inhabitants

With a telephonic survey the Swiss inhabitant's perception of natural hazards and specifically the hurricane Lothar shall be investigated. The empirical research bases on a survey that took place in autumn 2000. The resulting sample - based on a random sample out of the respondents of a former survey on the social demands on the Swiss forests (Swiss Agency for the Environment, Forests and Landscape - SAEFL, 1998) - has a size of 974 individuals (response rate 68%). The research will - planned as a panel study - not only give information about the perception of natural hazards by the general public, but it will offer an insight in the change of individual perception and opinions.
