Genomics and statistics, together with classical epidemiological and bioinformatics techniques, provide direct insight into the spread of pathogens. The scientific insights were made available to authorities and decision-makers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Upon the first monkeypox cases appearing around the world, the developed tools were adapted to track the spread and evolution of this virus.
