Change inventory Uholka-Shyrokyi Luh

A sample plot inventory was carried out on 314 plots in 2010 in the primeval forest of Uholka-Shyrokyi Luh. Until this time, forest structure had been primarily studied using smaller (0.5-10 ha), subjectively selected permanent plots. In comparison to this, a sample plot inventory allows to characterize the forest with representative information. Characteristic variables of this type of inventory are the composition of tree species, regeneration and dead wood.

The inventory carried out in 2010 will be repeated on at least some of the sample plots. Thereby the primeval beech forest of Uholka-Shyrokyi Luh will become the only primeval beech forest where the above mentioned characteristic variables can be ascertained.

The inventory will be carried out in 2019 in collaboration with the National Forestry Engineering University (UNFU, Lviv) and the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve (CBR, Rakhiv).
