Im Frühjahr 2018 untersuchte ein Team von Wissenschaftlern der Eidgenössischen Forschungsanstalt für Wald, Schnee und Landschaft WSL die Kiefern im Wolkenmeer von La Palma.

Since the eighties a team from the Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology of Yekaterinburg organizes regular expeditions to the Yamal Peninsula in the remote North of Russia. On the search for antique wood remains of ancient forests the researchers encounter unique landscapes, special working activities and logistic challenges. The dendrochronology group of the WSL contributes detailed cell anatomical measurements of the collected wood samples.

Le WSL abrite la banque suisse de graines. Nous conservons des graines d'environ 90 espèces d'arbres et d'arbustes pour des projets de recherche et des entreprises forestières. Avant de les entreposer, nous devons les nettoyer à l'aide d'une machine spécialement conçue à cet effet.
