  Semi-ring- to diffuse-porous. Pores generally solitary, more frequent in earlywood than in latewood. Fibres thick-walled. Diffuse apotracheal parenchyma, sparse, rarely paratracheal.
 
 

Radial section

   
  Simple perforation plates. Spiral thickenings in vessels and fibre-tracheids. Rays heterogeneous, with 1 to 4 (up to 6) rows of square to upright marginal cells. Libriform fibres and fibre-tracheids present. Cristals in ray cells.
 
 

Tangential section

   
  Rays generally biseriate, often uniseriate and seldom triseriate. Height of rays variable, frequently 5 to 20 cells.
