Baukultur and services of general interests in rural Switzerland
2025 - 2028
Coopération FinancementCo-creating transformation processes of Baukultur and services of general interest in rural municipalities ¶
The project explores how to align the domains of Baukultur and services of general interest to revitalize rural municipalities. It focuses on the critical examination of Baukultur, traditionally associated with cultural aspects of building and architectural aesthetics, and its evolution towards encompassing broader issues of sustainability and functionality within the built environment. The project investigates the ongoing transformation of services of general interest with a reduction of physical points of contact, and the potential for these buildings and infrastructures to be repurposed for multifunctional services, thereby fostering social interaction and new options for urban planning. The project proposes strategies that integrate Baukultur principles into the development of rural areas involving research, stakeholders, and civil society by co-creation.
