The Director has overall responsibility for the WSL and is accountable to the ETH Board for the management of operations. This means that she makes decisions on planning, research, teaching and services at the WSL following consultation with the Management and the people concerned.
The Deputy Director represents the Director in his absence, as well as in the functions and responsibilities allocated to him by the Director. Together, the Director and Deputy Director form the Executive Board, which is responsible for the operational management of the WSL.

The Management plans the strategic orientation of the WSL and supports the Director in managing the WSL. Apart from the Director and the Deputy Director, it includes the following members:
