The project MODULATE (MOnitoring lanDslides with mUltiplatform L-Band rAdar TEchniques) aims at identifying gaps and defining procedures useful for systematic displacement monitoring programs (and potentially early warning systems) involving radar imagery acquired from different sensors and platforms. In this project, we will explore at least two different scenarios of alpine rock slope instabilities potentially affecting important economic and societal assets. Moreover, in these scenarios we will perform specific demonstrations and careful validation of L-Band satellite (PALSAR-2) and airborne/terrestrial data (e.g. a recently developed L-Band SAR instrument), in order to identify their potential and limitations in the framework of slope monitoring in preparation for the Copernicus Radar Observation System for Europe in L-Band (ROSE-L).
