Interests and competences

Broadly, my main interest is to understand the relationship of diseased or healthy host plants with their associated microorganisms. I investigated this so-called microbiome in former studies and am using this knowledge in the detection of potentially dangerous organisms, for example in DNA sampled from the environment.

  • Bioinformatics and analysis of metabarcoding or sequencing data as well as downstream data processing and visualization
  • Supporting in coordination of the routine molecular diagnostics
  • Development of new tools for diagnostic purposes, with a focus on novel (high throughput and third generation) sequencing methods
