Dr. Kathrin Streit
I am committed to installing a network of common gardens over a broad environmental gradient in Switzerland. In those common gardens, we will test the climatic suitability of 18 tree species in the long-term. The network will provide a unique infrastructure for scientists and practitioners. It will be finalized in spring 2023. As of this writing (Jan 2022), just over half of the 59 sites have been established. Dr. Peter Brang and I share the lead in this project since early 2021. I joined WSL in September 2015 as coordinator for the Forest and Climate Change program, where I was intensively involved with implementation activities and products for forest practitioners. Before coming to WSL, I worked on the topic of organic carbon cycling; during my PhD at PSI on carbon cycling in an alpine tree-line ecosystem, during my postdoc at JPL on carbon cycling at one of the deepest hydrothermal vents on the Atlantic floor. In 2007, I graduated as a forest engineer at the ETH.
