New CERC research centre officially starts work

The new Climate Change, Extremes, and Natural Hazards in Alpine Regions Research Center (CERC) will officially start work in January 2021. Across six research groups, it will investigate relevant issues arising from climate change, extreme events and natural hazards in alpine regions. The research centre will be built up successively over the next few years.

The new centre will officially start work at the beginning of January 2021 and will comprise the following research groups:

The CERC will be run by the Canton of Grisons and the Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL) and will be supported by ETH Zurich. The expansion will be accompanied by various new hires at the SLF; in the longer term, a total of 30-40 jobs are to be created at CERC (to the job portal).
