Acceptance of management and policy options for resilient forests (ABePo)

The project examines forest owners' acceptance of various forest management and policy options concerning increasing extreme disturbances in the forest. In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, the project will define bundles of proactive and reactive forest management strategies and policy options for the Cantons Berne and Aargau as case study regions. These bundles will be presented to forest owners and forest managers in a survey in order to investigate (i) which reactive or proactive forest management strategies are prefered, (ii) which types of forest owners and forest managers can be identified with respect to such preferences and (iii) which financial support is required for a successful implementation of such climate adaptation strategies. We will derive policy recommendations and discuss them with stakeholder representatives at the cantonal and federal level.
