Natural hazards portal

On the natural hazards portal the Swiss government provides a synopsis of the current natural hazard situation in Switzerland. It shows the danger levels of all the natural hazard processes for which warnings are issued, namely rain, thunderstorms, flooding, snow, avalanches, heat waves, frost, slippery roads, wind, forest fires, and earthquakes. The key information is shown in a synoptic map that provides an overview of the current hazard situation at a glance. The portal also contains general information on the individual natural hazards and how to respond to them. It is intended for use by the general public and is available in German, French, Italian, English and Romansch.

The information on the portal is supplied by the federal government’s natural hazard agencies, namely the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology (MeteoSwiss), Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN), WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, and the Swiss Seismological Service (SED) at ETH Zurich.
