Cooperation Financing

As a contribution to a functioning circular economy and the Swiss bioeconomy, options for the use of wood in construction are being examined, developed, and tested. The aim is to identify the key leverage points in the value chain to increase the use of wood in construction and to develop ecologically optimal scenarios for wood use in Switzerland.

MainWood

In the project "MainWood", a collaboration between ETH Zurich, WSL, Empa and EPFL, options for the use of wood in construction are investigated, developed and tested as a contribution to a functioning circular economy and the Swiss bioeconomy. The project runs since 1st March 2023 and until the end of 2026, the project will address forest dynamics and production, material use and flow scenarios, innovative building products, life cycle analysis and cost modelling. The aim is to identify the most important leverage points in the value chain to increase the use of wood in construction and to develop ecologically optimal scenarios for the use of wood in Switzerland.
