Mainstreaming Wood in Construction

MainWood

In the project "MainWood", a collaboration between ETH Zurich, WSL, Empa and EPFL, options for the use of wood in construction will be investigated, developed and tested as a contribution to a functioning circular economy and the Swiss bioeconomy. The project begins on 1^st March 2023 and over the next three years and beyond, the project will address forest dynamics and production, material use and flow scenarios, innovative building products, life cycle analysis and cost modelling. The aim is to identify the most important leverage points in the value chain to increase the use of wood in construction and to develop ecologically optimal scenarios for the use of wood in Switzerland.
