Since 2009, I have headed the ‘Communications’ unit, comprising its three groups: ‘Communications WSL’, ‘Communications SLF’ and ‘Publications (Web and Print)’; in 2022, I became a member of the Executive Board and, in 2023, also Head of the ‘Planning and Logistics’ division.
The ‘Planning and Logistics’ division comprises the non-research departments of the WSL, specifically ‘Human Resources’, ‘Finance and Support’, ‘IT’, ‘Communications’, ‘Management of Facilities and Experimental Garden Birmensdorf’ and ‘Management of Facilities Davos’. Research is the WSL’s core mission – yet without the work of these support units, the researchers would be unable to carry out their work. That is why I regard our highly qualified and motivated staff in the support units as central to WSL’s success.
The ‘Communications’ unit facilitates and supports dialogue between WSL and the public, politicians, the authorities, practitioners and the scientific community. The exchange of ideas between WSL staff, the WSL management and employees, and across our various sites, is also very important to me. Our specialist unit’s remit encompasses internal communication, public relations, knowledge transfer and dissemination, technical and methodological support, communications consultancy and multimedia production (e.g. web videos, photography).
