Climate change effects on European forests call for an adaptive management through the introduction of non-native species and provenances.

The aim of this project is to explore the drivers of participation and long-term engagement of foresters and forest owners across Europe in participatory science approaches, as well as their readiness to implement adaptive actions given the legislation.

This project uses the participant network of MyGardenOfTrees with over 300 foresters and forest owners, as well as a sample of those that were not willing to participate in the project, as a comparison. Using semi-structured interviews and desk research it will develop a model of EU readiness to scale-up the implementation of climate change, adaptive forest management.
