Research interests

My research interests are in biodiversity and conservation biology, in particular ecological genetics and genomics. Of special relevance are the interface between research and application/outreach and the implementation of scientific results in conservation management and landscape planning. I study a wide array of organisms and use a suite of methods, i.e. descriptive and experimental field data and genetic and genomic approaches. During the last years, I spent effort in promoting landscape genetics by organizing international symposia, editing special issues, delivering keynotes, teaching and writing review papers. In several landscape genomic projects on alpine plants, I identify genomic regions of adaptation by using next generation sequencing data and environmental association analysis. I also supervise the large monitoring program of the nationally important habitats of Switzerland (WBS).
